OMM - Omnium Omnibus
68 minutes of World Music that Rocks at a Super-low price!
Omnium celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a low-priced label sampler. Founder Drew Miller says, "Ten years ago, we started Omnium to release the music of Boiled In Lead and other world music that rocks. Here are some of the best tunes so far, at a very special price, made possible by all the bands involved."
OMM includes a preview of the forthcoming release Sackbutt by “dayglo-techno-world” band Horace X and their “U.K. Cosmopolitan Sound,” alongside energetic tracks from Italy’s Fiamma Fumana, Sweden’s Garmarna, England’s Oysterband, Tiger Moth and John Kirkpatrick, tamburitza masters Sviraj, the Indonesian explorations of Sabah Habas Mustapha, Americans Ruth MacKenzie (Kalevala) and the Reptile Palace Orchestra, plus more. 65+ minutes of great music - cheap!
It all finishes off with an exclusive Boiled In Lead live track from 2001 (off the 17 March 2001 limited edition release.)
- "...Omnium's singular vision makes this budget-priced collection a perfect introduction to some kick-ass bands." -- Marty Lipp, www.globalrhythm.net
- "...probably the single best deal available in music at present. 5 bucks at the Omnium site gets you this 67 minute collection of world beat music, taken from the various previous releases from the great Omnium catalog." -- Ben Ohmart, www.musesmuse.com
- "...celebrates ten years of self-dubbed "hard trad" and the commemoration finds the cream of Omnium's crop offering up their strongest tracks. As such it is well-balanced and reasonably eclectic." -- Brent Hagerman, Exclaim!
- "It hangs together better than some albums by single bands, is a pleasure to listen to, and to dance to. Best of all, it brought several new bands to my attention, and made me itch to hunt out more music by Omnium artists; and in the end, that's exactly what it should do." -- Green Man Review
- "Omnium drives home the point that traditional does not have to be the same as it ever was. Tiger Moth, for example, put a fresh coat of paint on “Speed The Plough”. A compilation can either be a bunch of songs that you tolerate in order to get to the few you really like, or it can be a solid team effort that compels you not to skip even a single track. With OMM Omnium Omnibus, I was introduced to a number of bands I never had the pleasure hearing before, and greeted by a number of old favourites. A solid listen start to finish." -- Broose Tulloch, UWSA Stylus (Winnipeg)
- "In conspectu omnium. Omnibus inspectantibus." --
