The Nyckelharpa Orchestra consists of six top musicians from the younger generation of players. Members include Olov Johansson of Väsen, Johan Hedin of Trio Patrekatt and Tryptik, and Niklas Roswall of Ranarim.

They have worked hard at preserving and developing the nyckelharpa tradition, both as an ensemble and as solo artists. The group's ensemble playing is notable for its inquisitiveness, finesse, and solid musical craftmanship. One can hear both historical and modern influences.

Regarding their first album, the New York Timesrecently said "...the ethereal, all-nyckelharpa arrangements carry them toward realms of glacial translucence." (February 23, 2001)
